more subway stories

the other day i saw two white drifter-type fellows. they looked like they were without places to stay and on hard times, especially one guy who was carrying a major pack all strapped together loosy-goosy. but they had really sturdy shoes, so that made me happy. it's so awful when people not only don't have homes, but have hugely swollen sticky feet and no good shoes. it's really devastating. but these guys were not crazy, and looked like they had places to get food and gear but no home. the older, white haired man was telling many stories (perhaps advice?) to the younger man who had a mohawk (his kept up shorn sides made me hopeful too). i smiled at the older man, who was cool, like sam neill, and he smiled back.

yesterday there was a latina mom who was holding a little toddler, standing next to her son who was about 8 or 9. the little girl would kiss her mom, and then lean way out of her mom's arms at her brother with her mouth wide open. she kept leaning out, mouth gaping, at her little brother. but the next time, she leaned out a puckerup up mouth for a smooch, so her brother gave her a kiss, and she giggled hysterically. yay for family love.

in bus story, my morning bus lady is so nice, but sadly often late, so i need to probably get my lazy bum up earlier. but i love my driver, so i don't quite want to say goodbye.

in bike news, i need to take my bike in to look at the chain. but i have discovered that if you are biking up a hill, and hold on to the bottom of your handlebars (if you have the ones that U down), it is amazingly better. and at walgreen's, land of the things that you forgot you needed, i finally found a flashing back light to strap to myself.
